Welcome to Wild Norfolk
A collection of photographs and products featuring some of Norfolk’s wonderful wildlife. All of the photos on this site are taken by myself in Norfolk and with the exception of the deer in Holkham Park all are wild and free in their natural environment.
Barn owl hunting for voles on my hay field
About Peter
I was born on a Norfolk smallholding and have lived in Norfolk all my life. As a child I spent many hours wandering around the farm and local woods with my binoculars watching the birds and studying the plants and flowers that grew around me.
I now run my own smallholding in east Norfolk. When I arrived the farm was a small arable unit but I gradually converted it to grass for horse grazing and hay production. It has become a haven for wildlife, the grassland being an ideal environment for many wild flowers which in turn support a large number of insects and birds. Notable residents include bee orchids, linnets and a very successful breeding pair of barn owls.
I love watching the barn owls hunting the hay fields and rough field margins at dawn and dusk, Instead of a pair of binoculars I am now armed with camera and long lens as I try to capture these beautiful creatures in their natural environment.
